Rodeo
I was behind of the chutes one day Talking to an ol’ time rodeo hand, I told him I’d like to try rodeoin’ He laughed, and said “I hope your kidding”. Then he said,”Let me tell you about rodeoin’ If you’ve a mind to listen, Son there’s nothing better No bigger thrill, But then when your body slaps that ground You just might wind up killed.” Lets say you pay your entry fee, Your thinkin’ it’s easy money You think aint nobody rides as good as me!! Any way your in the go-round You draw your beast Lets call him “Big Ben” just for luck. The other cowboys say he’s a honest bull But he knows how to spin like a top. You get your riggin all set Now you climb down in the chute You look up at the Lord, Your prayers all said Screw your hat down tight And nod your head. That gate swings open This is it - you got a Whole bunch-a-bull to ride. From that first jump you know He’ll be hell to ride. You’re bein’ thrown like an old rag doll, But you get back in the middle Your settin real pretty, You got him whipped. The buzzer goes off and All of a sudden that ol’ bull Tosses you into the ground And thumps you down hard On the back of your head. Well, you get up a’smilin’, So proud you shout. The announcer says “No score for the cowboy, RE-RIDE”…. The whole crowds a’watchin, No chance for hidin’ Just go on back and hope You do better this time.” Well, I listened to the ol’ boy And thought about what he said. I figure the best place for my bullrope Is just hangin’ in the shed…
