When the Action Goes Ballistic

There come moments at certain kind of cash game poker table where things just seem to go into another world. Either you have one or more players just playing so loose it seems they are giving money away, or everybody is bluffing and raising one another, whateversome games are more gamble than they are skill. When you find yourself in the midst of this kind of action, it can be hard to want to get up. Obviously if casino players are gambling that means you are going to get a lot of action on your big hands, but it also means you will be sucked out more often, or run over. The range of potential swings in your stack are much larger. Are you the kind of poker player that does well with taking losses? Can you take a bad beat (or two) and still hang on to play your best game and take advantage when these wild men are going wild? Even if the answer is yes, you may want to consider the value of gambling a little more versus how much you stand to gain. If the numbers don’t add up to likely profit, it might be better to wait for a cleaner spot to stand.
